I always start off each year by picking my builds for the year, and inevitably, come the end of the year, I have never built what I picked out at years's beginning.
I have all my kits entered in a database. Some time ago, I came up with the idea of randomly picking numbers. The number that the kit corresponded to in the database then got put on the "to Build" pile for the year. The idea being, that using this method, all kits in my stash had the same chance of getting built.
Over the years the number of kits picked out varied from eight to six. I picked eight last year, and although I completed six for the year, only one kit - the kittyhawk aerocobra - came from the "to build" pile. To be fair my commitments to The Modelling News kept me from completing more off the pile.
Anyway, this year, I have selected four. I think I stand a chance of completing four! Already through, there is a fly in the ointment,a work colleague would like a HobbyBoss Tomcat built. I'll build his alongside one I have in the stash as well.
So the years selected builds are,
The Airfix 1/48 Walrus
The venerable old Monogram 1/48 Marauder, reboxed by Revell here
Tamiya 1/35 Somua
And my only 1/32 entry for the year
Trumpeter 1/32 Hellcat
And a couple of Foreigners
( Australian slang for any project done outside one's normal work duties)
I'd also like to tackle a ship and one of my many Wingnut Wings kits, but then again, I say this every year!
I imagine Adam will also have a few review builds to complete for The Modelling News again. It will be a busy year, with my Wife and zi also taking a month off for a holiday in Vietnam. Lets see how I do
I'm in my fifties and live in Regional Victoria, Australia.
